Created by Miami native and Scotch Enthusiast Carin Luna—Ostaseski, SIA is a blend that appeals to the contemporary palate. "With SIA, I'm looking to challenge the Scotch Stereotype." says Luna—Ostaseski. "SIA is approachable, refined and refreshingly modern. This is the brand for consumers who don't even know they like Scotch yet."
In a sign of the times, SIA was funded through Kickstarter, the crowd—sourcing platform that is more commonly used to fund projects such as films, games or gadgets. SIA is one of the most successful spirit brands funded to date.
"Successfully funding a project on Kickstarter means that you already have an audience for your product when you launch. I was so excited to see that people not only shared and wanted to support my vision, but also wanted to place an order."
When conceptualizing the blend, Luna—Ostaseski conducted blind tastings of hundreds of different single malts, researched distillery methods and shared early blends with Scotch virgins and enthusiasts alike. "What I found is so many consumers think of Scotch as heavy, smoky... something their father or grandfather would drink." She added. "SIA's versatility— whether it is enjoyed neat, on the rocks or mixed in cocktails — has tremendous appeal."
